Football
This year at Leamington
we are trying to extend opportunities to play
inter school matches from year 3 to year 6. Children
will generally have to attend trials in order
to make the team but where possible Miss Moore
and MRS Dentith will attempt to include as many
children as possible to participate in at least
one match.
Years 5 and 6 have been entered into the Liverpool
School league so will have several matches against
local schools. Year 4 are involved in a knockout
cup but along side this we will attempt to arrange
friendlies so that they can become more prepared
for year 5. Year 3 have been entered in the De
La Salle Cup and will also take part in any inter
school competitions organised by the sports partnership.
Finally we have an outside group coming in to
school after October half term to start girls
football sessions. Within this there will be the
opportunity to attend sessions once a week to
develop skills and/or for the girls to join a
local league team which currently play in the
Liverpool County Girls league based at the LBA
grounds.
Although these matches are all competitive we
insist on good team spirit and a positive attitude
towards others regardless of the outcome. We try
to encourage as many children as possible to attend
out of school clubs as there are many local teams
looking for players.
