Welcome
to Leamington Community Primary School
Since September 1989
all children at Leamington have been following
the developing and changing National Curriculum
which consists of;
The CORE subjects
of Mathematics, English, Science and Religoius
Education. Information and Communications Technology
is integrated into the curriculum.
The non-core subjects of History, Geography, Design
and Technology, Music, Art and Physical Education.
These subjects are incorporated into themes or
projects of study suitable for the various stages.
The National Curriculum has specified Attainment
Targets, programmes of study and assessment arrangements.
Those parents who wish to have a closer look of
the National curriculum can request a copy from
the school office.
At the end of each year all children will receive
a written report detailing their progress within
the national curriculum and all other aspects
of social, moral, physical and spiritual development.
However, close contact and involvement with the
school and attendance at the termly meetings will
remain the best way of working in partnership
to fulfil each child's potential.
Aims of
the Curriculum
The Governors through
the curriculum aim to ensure that children are
prepared for adult life and employment by;
- Developing knowledge
and understanding of themselves and other children.
- Developing a knowledge
and understanding of the world in which they
live.
- Developing skills
and knowledge which will enable them to solve
problems and therefore able to succeed in life.
- The school aims
to provide a broad and balanced curriculum based
on an investigative and varied approach which
will encourage children to become active participants.
Planning
of the Curriculum
The DfES initiatives
have brought literacy and numeracy to the forefront
of all learning. The literacy and numeracy strategies
have been established in schools for five years
now. We have learned the skills from the strategies
and in Leamington we have now developed an approach
where children learn through themes and literacy
can now be taught through the foundation subjects.
Learning is now more joined up and fun.
