Children at Leamington
have opportunities extend their artistic ability
and creativity from an early age in their education.
In the foundation
stage children have access to a range of resources,
materials and textures enabling them to freely
express their ideas, thoughts and feelings as
they make sense of the world around them. Planning
for art in the foundation stage is based around
the children's own interests and personal development
and provides lots of inspiration but much creative
freedom.
In Key Stages 1 and
2 the children are provided with lots of opportunities
to express themselves through art in lots of different
mediums. As well as encouraging children to create
art from their own ideas and inspiration, the
teachers at Leamington plan units of work around
themes. This enables the children to acquire national
curriculum skills and grow in confidence in their
own ability. The art curriculum at Leamington
aims to engage, excite and inspire.
